As Mike and I drove to State College the evening before the wedding I read the weather forecast, heavy thunderstorms were expected throughout the day for Lauren + Derek’s wedding. I started praying immediately that God would hold of the rain until after 5pm, when all photos outside would be finished. I mean I know God has MUCH bigger things to worry about than rain on a wedding day, but God’s funny in that way that he cares about the little details as much as the big ones. The day was filled with sun and clouds and as Lauren started walking down the aisle the clouds were dark coming over the hills and it started to rain… again I started praying and in a matter of minutes the rain stopped. We were able to finish the ceremony and all of the outdoor photos with sunny skies. Just as the wedding party was being announced into the reception at 5 pm the clouds were dark and by 5:10 the heavens opened and it started pouring… like torrential down pour. God is good… all the time.
Lauren + Derek had such a beautiful and meaningful wedding day and Mike and I were so honored to be a part of it. One of my favorite parts of the wedding was hearing them say their vows. Not many of our couples write their own vows but Lauren + Derek knocked it out of the park! There ceremony had so much meaning behind it and the love these two have for one another was SO apparent. We were able to work with our favorite videographer, Matt Stambaugh, during the day and I can’t wait for you to see his highlight film of the day! Many couples might think that hiring a videographer for the day is just something you can add on but the more I see from Matt the more I feel as though having your wedding day captured in both film and photography is a must have.
Lauren + Derek, we love you two and loved being a part of this time in your lives. We know God has big plans for your future and we can’t wait to see what’s in store!
Enjoy our favorites from the day and a little surprise from Matt!
