This weekend was pretty refreshing. We had nothing to photograph, no wedding or engagement session… just free time. I honestly don’t think we’ve had a full weekend with nothing since March or April. We love our busy season, don’t get me wrong, but it was really nice to finally have a weekend free. We had the chance to catch up on some projects around the house and spend some quality snuggle time with Baxter :)
Mike has been working on our front porch floor for several weeks now and he was finally able to finish most of it up over the weekend. The floor had been painted and the paint was starting to chip. The plan at first was to just scrape off the paint and repaint it… easy enough right… well once Mike started scraping away the paint he saw the wood underneath and Mike has a hard time painting over natural wood. So… he suggested staining it instead. Which meant everything needed to look perfect because stain doesn’t hide the imperfections, it shows them off even more! He has spent almost every evening for the past 2 1/2 weeks sanding down the floor to remove all the paint, then he needed to add wood filler in the areas between the boards that were too large, then re-sand again… it’s been quite the process! Over the weekend he was finally able to add stain and it looks awesome! Can’t wait to show you the before and after but until then enjoy a few iphone photos.
